Abstract
French Missionary Dallet (1874) noted in his book that the thousand character essay has been utilized long time for the children for Chinese characters both in China and in Korea. The thousand character essay is called in Korea as Tcheonzamun (Han, 1583). The grammar between these two countries (China and Korea) is very different. However, most of translation were carried out on Chinese grammar (Han, 1583). Recently, several researchers tried to translate Tcheonzamun on Korean grammar (Park et al., 2021) and through Korean pronunciation of Chinese character (Kim, 2023). The present work concerns the translation of Tcheonzamun poem through Korean pronunciation of Chinese characters. The meaning of Tcheonzamun is the same to the English name of ‘the thousand character essay’. The text for this study is somewhat old one (Han, 1583). And the range of this study is sixteen letters of (Tcheonzamun 481st-496th). The translating was done through Korean pronunciation of Chinese characters on Tcheonzamun (Kim, 2023). The present researchers tried to obtain the ‘Modified pronunciation’ from Korean pronunciation of Chinese characters on Tcheonzamun poem. The thousand character essay is the masterpiece in Asia (Dallet, 1874). This study is done in order to translate this Tcheonzamun poem(Tcheonzamun 481st-496th) on Korean pronunciation of Chinese characters. The title of this study is ‘“Thank you so much, My mother in-law, Hilye Sarah Kim!” (Tcheonzamun 481st-496th)’. The next is the result obtained from the present study. <Number in Tcheonzamun.
